Sydney students socialise in two main places - the College Bar and the GCR (General Combination Room). While the bar is fairly self-explanitory and is popular most nights of the week, the later is a common room with newspapers, TV & video, and snack machines. At the weekends there is usually some kind of 'ents.' night in the bar.
Music and drama flourish at the College, and both the drama and music socieities regularly put on productions for the students. This, however, is not the end of the clubs and societies list at Sidney - there are plenty of wild and wacky groups of people who have common interests. There are societies to cater for virtually all interests...and if there isn't one you want, its easy to start one.
Accommodation is guarenteed for all undergraduates in each year of study. All first years and most finalists live in College, while the second years live in either College owned houses or Cromwell Court (a modern accommodation block near the College).
The rooms are fairly modern and well sized (usually single rooms), but the quality of room definately improves the closer you get to graduating. Some finalists, in fact, have two rooms and one can be ushered into their study or bedroom (often depending, of course, on their intent!). However, the fast majority only have a single room.
There are ample cooking and washing facilities on site, so there is no need to bring a portable microwave...in fact they are banned.
There are a variety of sports facilities at the College, including several acres of sports fields and a boathouse. Within the College there is a squash court (but be prepared to queue), a croquet court and a gym. Sidney students can also use the University sports facilities.
There is a high percentage of participation in College sports teams - it seems to be more important to take part than to win.
There is an excellent library on site, with plenty of resources and study places. In addition, students can use the Cambridge University libaries and many of the other college libraries.
There is a small computer room in College, and each of the College rooms has internet and college network access. If you can, bring your own computer.
