- Accommodation Details:
- If each college had to pick one thing to be good at, then Magdalen should have accommodation. First years are housed mostly accross the road in a Waynflete. There is an off-licence downstairs. Unfortunately there is no discount for bulk buying. Boo. Accommodation is friendly, warm and comfortable. Other years are accommodated inside the college in the newly developed Grove Quad. If you can stand to be in college for all three years, as most Magdalen students can, then you will have the nicest room of just about anyone at Oxford Uni. The rooms are nice for a reason, a booming conference trade ushers you out swiftly at the end of term. Be sure to wipe bogies under all surfaces then.
Food is served in either the main dining hall, The Old Kitchen or you can cook for yourself. The Old Kitchen is likened to a pub and you can eat on a riverside patio. Very pleasant indeed when the sun is out. Formal meals are held on Sunday nights. As a rule it is cheap and chewy.

- Libraries:
- There are five libraries with specialised ones for law and history. The sizeable collection of books is fine for undergraduates. There are some very old texts and scriptures that you can only look at if you have a beard and wear a lot of tweed. (unofficial-guides.com would like to point out that these are not the only entry requirements)
|
- Computing:
- There are 20 machines all with 24hr access. Even if they were occupied in strict shifts there would not be enough come dissertation time. Most rooms are networked so if you bring your own equipment you will be sorted for access.
|
- Sports:
- There are three squash courts in college, this is probably the reason for Magdalen's performance. There is a gym as well and sports fields are not far away at all. Real Tennis is also played. The boat club is well funded and, given that this is Oxford after all, well attended.
|
- Bars:
- The bar is sizeable and a key venue for activities. There is a juke box and a pool table which are great when you just fancy chilling. Weekdays are always packed but at the weekends the students go mad and the bar becomes one of the better venues at the university. Fun and frolics take place to the tune of cheese. Many students also head to The Pickerel Inn (The Pick) which is virtually in college grounds.
|
- Functions:
- There are bops every couple of weeks and regular cocktail parties. It can get a little bit sickeningly ra-ra at times but most students play along in a toungue in cheek sort of way.
|
- Major Social Events:
- The Commemoration ball will most likely occur once in your time at the college. Make sure you go, it is one of the biggest and best at the university. The Magdalene ball is a white tie event, Mmmmm unorthodox social events.

- Campus Publications:
-
The Ghost of Magdalen
A student mag and one of the better college publications.
The Stag
A reference to the deer in the college grounds. This is a gossip based newssheet distributed in the loos.
