- Libraries:
- The main library is at Greenwich, it is pretty standard-lots of books and computer facilities. There are smaller collections at all the sites.
- Computing:
- There are computers in libraries and independent computer labs. There are also facilities in accommodation blocks and the newest halls are linked to the university network for internet access.
- Sports:
- Most facilities are centred around the Avery Hill site where the Sparrow's Farm sports centre (including a gym) is located. There are also plenty of pitches for field sports here.
- Disabled Students:
- Many of the buildings are historic and can be difficult to adapt but there is a disability coordinator and 90% of lecture theatres have disabled access now. There is specialist tuition for students with specific learning disabilities, such as course material in Braille.
- Student Welfare:
- On paper the health and welfare service seems great. Coucelling and general health are well well provided for, plus all the usual aid with academic and finacial promlems is available.
- Parking:
- Rather surprising parking is both allowed and possible at all sites bar Greenwich, where it's just not worth it. Many students do bring cars and these can be an advantage if you want to escape East London's gritty reality. Permits are issued for free.
- University Shops:
- There are shops at each site selling the usual items such as groceries and stationery. They also operate a video hire service. Good idea.
- University Bookshops:
- Each campus has its own bookshop run by the university. Prices are competitive and they are supplied with reading lists in advance so getting the text you need should never be a problem.
- Banking:
- There is a Barclays at Avery Hill and plenty of local branches of other banks.
- Transport Policy:
- There is a minibus service that shuttles students between sites.
- Green Areas:
- The Avery Hill site is split into teaching and living sites and these are separated by a park. The Greenwich site is next to the rather lovely Greenwich Park. Medway is proper country Kent and is very pleasant. Greenwich town centre is being redeveloped and is getting smarter.
