  University of Buckingham
Bars:
George's Bar in the Tanlaw Mill Student Union building, is the main student watering hole here and hosts the weekly events. The bar itself is characterised by a sporting theme and is equipped with pool table, video games and when it stops raining, a barbecue!
Functions:
Being a pretty intensively academic place the Bucks students don't have much leeway to afford those weekday hangovers, but they do make up for this when the weekend begins. On Fridays the Union puts on various theme nights, 60's Discos, Karaoke and Live Music.
Major Social Events:
The Graduation Ball is one of the more extravagant occasions, of the rather unorthodox academic year (it is held in March). This year the ball, held on campus, hosted ABBA and Ricky Martin tributes with a lightshow, laserquest and fire-eaters among the host of other entertainments. The place also comes alive during their Rag Week in August, when a whole host of wacky, and ingenious money-raising schemes break the air of studiousness that prevails here.
Clubs & Societies:
There are 20 clubs and societies here which, for a student population of 700, is remarkably high. The Societies tend to be built around a very cultural line, reflecting the very large proportion of overseas students that come here. From a sports point of view the mainstream clubs exist - with a tint of the international - Rugby, Golf, Martial Arts, Aerobics, Badminton, Basketball and Squash.
